Okay, I don’t know if anyone has noticed this; so I’ll just put it out there myself. Parrish is the first person to actually, legitimately peak Lydia Martin’s interest (on screen). We have never seen Lydia this intrigued before. This is mainly due to the fact that all of the romantic Lydia-centric relationships have mostly happened off-screen.
In season 1 Lydia was already officially with Jackson. We never got to see the build up to Jydia or see what Lydia is like when she is smitten, because this all took place prior to the show premiere episode.
In season 2 the writers barely scratch the surface with the Jydia relationship and begin to finally give Lydia and Jackson’s relationship some proper on-screen development. But then Colton left, and that Jydia potential with never fully realized (sadly).
Then there was Aiden, who from the very beginning we are told was just a distraction to Lydia. Their relationship had no on-screen development at all! It’s assumed that save for the few scenes; their relationship took place entirely off screen. Plus, it was greatly obvious that Aiden was much more interest in Lydia, than she ever was in him
And of course there is Stiles, who I won’t even bother including on this list – because even though some may insist on labeling Stydia a romantic relationship. The truth of the matter is; it’s not. It’s a friendship on Lydia’s part and a one-sided crush on Stiles’.
But now we have Parrish (Jordan). And it’s with him that we are beginning to see this new Lydia. The coy Lydia who can’t help but look at Parrish as if he were the most fascinating thing she has ever laid eyes on. Usually Lydia is so very-very aggressive when it comes to what she wants. But with Parrish she almost seems shy — especially in the newer scenes. This is completely foreign territory for Lydia! It’s amazing, because I have a feeling that Marrish will be the first Lydia-centric romance that we will actually get to see develop fully on screen.
We’ll get to see them grow close; we’ll get to see all their first steps. But most importantly, we’ll finally get to see what Lydia is like when she meets someone she is genuinely interested in, in a romantic way.
